What is plush fabric?
The term "plush" is almost synonymous with the word "towel," but plush is actually a specific style of weaving.
First introduced in the 1840s, the curl is made with uncut loops, known as "hair," that rise from the base or floor of the fabric. Most fabrics are made by weaving yarn in two directions: vertical (warp) and horizontal transverse (weft).
The plush fabric is made with two warp beams: the warp of the floor, which helps form the base of the towel, and the warp of the hair, which creates the loops of thread. These loops are separated from the base on both sides of the fabric to increase surface area, improve absorbency, and maintain a smooth feel.
